James Lowry
M.A.(Ph.), Ph.D. (Dalhousie). Greek and Modern German Philosophy and Metaphysics.
E-mail: james.lowry@collegedominicain.ca
James Lowry works in the area of speculative philosophy. His main interest is in continuing the tradition of systematic philosophy as exemplified in the work of Aristotle, Proclus and Hegel and in trying to reconcile the needs of modernity, as exemplifed in the work of Albert Schweitzer, with the perennial necessity of systematic thought.
Publications
Publications on the history and tradition of speculative philosophy include: Psyche and Cosmos; Reason and Religion; various articles in Eleutheria; and Mentaphysics. The latter is a systematic work of speculative philosophy. Current work is largely devoted to a companion work to Mentaphysics, provisionally entitled: Perennial Problematics and Their Perennial Solution.
