Undergraduate programme 2010-2011
The undergraduate program in theological studies is aimed at providing an overall view of the Christian Mystery. The three year Bachelors program is articulated around three major themes: God and the human being; Jesus Christ and the being-in-Christ; the Church and the Christian response. Each year represents 24 mandatory credits and 6 optional ones. This structure allows students to acquire a solid understanding of the fundamental aspects of theology while staying in touch with current issues concerning Church and society.
The B.A. is focused on the study of sources (Ancient and New Testaments), as well as the history of the Church (9 credits every year). The students are also encouraged to study Latin, Greek and Hebrew in order to access directly texts from the Bible and the Fathers of the Church.
Students wanting to study one full year can obtain a Certificate in Theological Studies. It is also possible to register as an auditor at the Faculty of Theology.
Graduate Studies
Graduate studies in theology can be done in one year (Master in Theology) or two years (Master of Arts in Theology). These studies are aimed at furthering education received at the undergraduate level. Students will:
- Further a reflection on a theme approached at the undergraduate level, study some of the principal issues concerning the Church, or undertake a multidisciplinary reflection on a given subject (exegesis, theology, philosophy, history).
- Develop methods used at the undergraduate level or explore new research instruments necessary for research and scientific work in theology.
The Theology Faculty hosts a good number of students at the Ph.D. level. They are given special attention.
Opportunities
Essential to any person wanting to undertake a Church Ministry, theological studies also prepare students for teaching catechesis and religion, for work in a parish or any related activity. These studies certainly are an advantage for anyone seeking a strong personal education, a better understanding of faith and an ability to present it in a thoughtful manner.
